Jackie Demetriou

Jackie Demetriou is Professor in Small Animal Soft Tissue at the University of Nottingham. She is a European Boarded Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and has been practicing specialist level soft tissue surgery for 20 years.

She is interested in all aspects of small animal soft tissue surgery and has taught extensively, both in academia (University of Edinburgh, University of Cambridge, and University of Nottingham) and private practice for two decades. She has set up and been director of  highly successful residency programmes and has trained many residents, interns, and veterinary students. She has lectured nationally and internationally in all aspects of soft tissue surgery.

Background

Jackie Demetriou graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1996 and then went on to complete an internship and residency at the University of Edinburgh. She became a Diplomate of ECVS in 2002. Following this she obtained a Lectureship in Small Animal Surgery at the University of Cambridge, where she stayed for 9 years before moving to one of the largest referral centres in Europe, Dick White Referrals.

She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2018 and obtained a Chair in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery at the University of Nottingham in 2020.
