RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Medicine (Internal Medicine) and EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Medicine (Internal Medicine)

Paolo graduated from the University of Perugia, Italy, in 2002. He spent the following 3 years working in private practice in Rome. In 2007 he gained the certificate of Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine from the University of Pisa, Italy. He then completed an 18-month official rotating internship at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, in Spain, followed by a 3-year residency in Internal Medicine at the same University. During the first year of his residency he obtained a Master Degree discussing a final project on small animal transfusion medicine.

In September 2012 Paolo successfully passed the final exam for the ECVIM-CA board and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and Recognised European Veterinary Specialist. In 2015 he was awarded of the RCVS Recognised Specialist status. In 2016 he completed a PhD research project about new clinico-pathological aspects of canine leishmaniasis. From 2013 to 2021, he has been employed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. Since October 2021, he is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Paolo has a particular interest in infectious diseases (vector-borne diseases in particular).
